The Pathways Foundation teamed up with the MLB Players Trust to host the first Student-Athlete Innovation Summit, bringing 70 students from 15 inner-city Arizona high schools to the MLBPA office during the iconic Playmakers Classic.

Students were placed in curated groups to spark new friendships and guided by mentors from The Luminosity Lab at Arizona State University as they explored learnings the classroom often doesn't teach. The day spanned mindfulness, AI, entrepreneurship, sports technology, robotics, and public speaking — and culminated in live prototype pitches.

Highlights from the day:

  • Mindfulness in Sport with Fard Morales and Inner Explorer
  • AI Hitters Workshop and group prototyping led by Mike Yates and Jasmine Maze of the Reinvention Lab at Teach For America
  • Clubhouse Conversations with baseball legends Chris Singleton, Chris Capuano, and DJ Carrasco
  • AI in entrepreneurship with Nikki Estes and Jonathon Chambless
  • AI-powered sports tech with Scott Deans and BeONE Sports
  • The Sport of Speaking and mastering the pitch with Charles Ruiz
  • Innovation and Robotics with Robb Olivieri and The Luminosity Lab
  • Final prototype presentations judged by Will Benson, Jose Trevino, Harrison Bader, Daniel Puder, Tony Quiroz, and Gretchen Mueller

The next generation isn't waiting for the future — they're building it.
